ELIGIBILITY: Brothers Big Sisters matches children, ages 5-15 with mentors in professionally supported one to one relationships. Volunteer must be 16 years of age or older and able to commit 1-3 hours per week for at least one year. Volunteer will be carefully screened.
SERVICES: COMMUNITY BASED MENTORING – Traditional Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship. It’s all about the one on one time spent with the volunteer and the young person doing things they enjoy – mentors meet two to four times per month for interests and fun activities. SCHOOL BASED MENTORING – One on one mentoring that takes place in the schools. It is not a classroom program and it is not tutoring. While some students do talk to their mentor about their class or do homework or read, it is really about friendship and guidance.
MISSION: Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
